Finolhu appoints Ishan Hussain as Deputy General Manager

Ishan Hussain, who joined Finolhu in 2016 and has been Resort Manager since October 2023, has been named the Baa Atoll resort's Deputy General Manager.

Finolhu, a Seaside Collection resort in Baa Atoll, has appointed Ishan Hussain as its Deputy General Manager, the resort announced in November 2026. He was previously the resort's Resort Manager.

Ishan has more than 25 years of experience in hospitality, according to the resort. He began his career as a receptionist and went on to work as Front Office Manager, Rooms Division Manager and Executive Assistant Manager.

At Finolhu since 2016

He joined Finolhu in 2016 and was promoted to Resort Manager in October 2023, the resort said. In that role he oversaw the resort's day-to-day operations and supported the development of its leadership teams.

In his new role, Ishan will support Finolhu's strategic and operational direction, with a focus on service excellence, guest satisfaction and talent development, according to the resort. It said his leadership puts particular emphasis on people development and collaboration, and that his career reflects Finolhu's commitment to nurturing Maldivian hospitality talent.

About Finolhu

Finolhu is in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll and has 125 beachfront and overwater villas and a two-kilometre sandbank, the resort said. Its name means sandbank in Dhivehi.

In 2026 the resort won Best Culinary Resort at the Travel Trade Maldives (TTM) Awards and was named Best Design Resort in the Maldives at the World Fashion Channel Global Destination Awards, according to the resort. It said it was again included in the MICHELIN Guide 2026 selection.

Finolhu is owned and managed by Seaside Collection, a family-owned German hospitality group founded by Theo Gerlach and now led by Anouchka and Gregor Gerlach. The group has 11 hotels and properties in Germany, Spain and the Maldives, including .Here Baa Atoll.
