OpenAI and Google Cloud have agreed to bring OpenAI's frontier models and its Codex coding agent to Google Cloud's Model Garden, OpenAI announced on 21 October.

Google Cloud customers will be able to buy the models through the Google Cloud Marketplace, and companies with Google Cloud spending commitments can use those commitments to pay for them, OpenAI said. General availability is planned in the coming weeks.

OpenAI said its models will also soon be available in Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent. Customers in regulated industries will be able to use Google Cloud's access controls and data governance tools with the models.

"This partnership is an important step in making our most capable models and Codex available where customers are already building," said Greg Brockman, OpenAI's president and co-founder.

Google Cloud chief executive Thomas Kurian said the company wanted to give customers "a broad selection of models, including those from OpenAI".

The deal adds Google to the cloud providers offering OpenAI's models. OpenAI said Microsoft remains its primary cloud partner. In June, OpenAI said customers could also use Oracle cloud commitments to buy its models and Codex.
