OnePlus launched the OnePlus 16 in China on Monday, the company's first flagship smartphone since it pulled out of the US and European markets earlier this year.

The phone runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It carries a 9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, one of the largest fitted to an Android flagship so far, with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Its OLED display can refresh at up to 185Hz in supported games and up to 165Hz across the phone's everyday interface.

The cameras get a major upgrade. The main camera moves to 200 megapixels, with a larger 1/1.4-inch sensor and an f/1.4 aperture, and is joined by 50-megapixel ultrawide and telephoto cameras.

The silver model also has LED lighting on the back that shows a large "16" and flashes in different patterns to signal calls, messages and battery level.

The OnePlus 16 starts at 5,699 yuan, about $850, in China. Indian media expect it to reach India later this year or early next year, but OnePlus has not announced an international launch date.
