Two Maldives resorts have received international hospitality awards this month, with Alila Kothaifaru Maldives named Best Resort of the Year at the 2026 AHA Asia Hotel Awards and OUTRIGGER Maldives Maafushivaru winning Gold in the 2026 Travel Weekly Magellan Awards.

Best Resort of the Year in Bangkok

Alila Kothaifaru Maldives, in Raa Atoll, received the award at the 15th edition of the AHA Asia Hotel Awards, held at Capella Bangkok in Thailand, according to an announcement published by Visit Maldives on 28 October.

The programme was established in 2010 by LIFESTYLE Magazine as the CHA China Hotel Awards and was expanded in 2026 to cover hotels and resorts across Asia. This year's gala was the first held in Bangkok.

"To receive this recognition alongside some of Asia's most respected hospitality names is a proud moment for all of us at Alila Kothaifaru Maldives," said Thomas Weber, the resort's General Manager.

The resort has 41 beachfront villas, 36 overwater villas, three two-bedroom beach villas and the Boduge Residence, each with a private pool. It also received a 2026 Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Award, the announcement said.

Gold for all-inclusive resort

OUTRIGGER Maldives Maafushivaru won Gold in the All-Inclusive Resort category of the 2026 Travel Weekly Magellan Awards, Outrigger Hospitality Group said in a release dated 22 October. Magellan entries are judged by a panel of travel professionals against a benchmark of industry excellence rather than against one another, the company said.

"Being recognized with a Gold Magellan Award is a meaningful achievement for our entire team," said General Manager Guillaume de Lasteyrie.

The company said more than 60 per cent of the resort's guests choose its all-inclusive plan. New Beach Family Villas of 116 square metres and a Treehouse Kids Retreat for children aged four to 12 opened at the resort this year.
